Sheikh Mohammed Al Amoudi has received praise and recognition for his work and efforts in many countries. Some of the awards he has received are listed here:-

Award by His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, the “Insignia of Commander, First Class of the Royal Order of the Polar Star,” for his contribution as an outstanding investor in Sweden.

In 1997 he was awarded the Royal Order Polar Star of Sweden from Sweden for his substantial investments in that country.

For his development work in Ethiopia he received the national award "Investor of the Millennium." His contributions to Ethiopia’s sports, particularly football are also significant.

In September 2007 Prime Minister Meles Zenawi awarded Sheikh Mohammed Al Amoudi the first 'Special Millennium Gold Medal’ for his exemplary deeds for the development of Ethiopia and its people.

Sheikh Mohammed Al Amoudi has also been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy from Addis Ababa university for his contributions promoting Ethiopia in the field of social and economic development.
