Ethiopia Al Amoudi grants 100 mln Birr for Mekele stadium, road construction
Mekele, Ethiopia January 3, 2011 - Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al Amoudi, a business tycoon , has granted 100 million Birr for the construction of Mekele Stadium and asphalt road in the town.
Mekele Town Mayor, Negussie Gebre told ENA on Monday that 70 million Birr is for the construction of the stadium which is 36 percent completed.
He said the grant would speed up the construction of the stadium which lagged behind schedule due to financial stress.
The mayor said the 30 million Birr grant is part of his 50 million Birr pledge for construction of asphalt road in Mekele town.
Negussie said the business tycoon had already granted 20 million Birr earlier.
